I miss Colorado a lot sometimes... BUT NOT LATELY! Never before moving to Kansas City had I seen such gorgeous displays of autumn color. Fall comes and goes so quickly in the cool dry climate of Colorado: it begins and end in only a few weeks leaving bare trees and brown bushes before the end of October. Kansas City being considerably warmer and wetter creates an autumn that takes months to play out. I actually well up sometimes when I take in the slow-changing beauty of all the colors and smells of our midwestern fall. You can't beat a Colorado summer, but Autumn is absolutely sublime in Kansas City.
All the color on the trees influences me to dig for the color in my closet. For most of the summer I couldn't get away from whites and blues, but now that autumn is here I'm drawn to wearing all shades of orange and red: especially RUST. The suede boots and skirt are recent purchases and they do well with the staples already in my closet. This striped sweater (worn for too many seasons to count!) and navy blue cape (also very loved) add a nice bit of preppy contrast to all that burnt sienna.
Two rust colored purchased I made for fall is this suede origami skirt from Forever 21 (a total steal at $37) and this pair of suede ankle boots from Asos. Both have that burnt sienna seventies vibe I'm totally into these days and becasue I'm populating my wardrobe with this color they'll definitely be mixed, and used in the coming months. And as usual, I never leave home without my shades. Today I'm wearing the 'Emerson' by SPY Sunglasses. I have a lot of D-Frames, but these are a special addition to my collection. Tortoise shell, with a bit of gold interest at the temples, and they preactiaclly float on my face. (If you missed it last week check out my review of SPY Sunglasses' 'Hennepin' style - another badass pair of rock star D-Frames.)
I hope you're getting some good fall color where ever you may be. Enjoy the day and have a great weekend!
