In a sea of trends, among thousands of blogging 'fish', I'm tempted to buy every trend in order to keep up and stand out. But it isn't sustainable, it doesn't further my wardrobe, and it doesn't make getting dressed any easier. Being the resident blogger among my group of friends naturally lands me in the 'Stacy London' role and I'm invited into their closets for imprumptu 'What Not to Wear' sessions. Aside from being great fun (wine + play dressup = the best time ever!) it's helping to clarify my own style by reminding me that classic basics are the MOST IMPORTANT THING in a woman's wardrobe.
Today's outfit is head to toe 'classic' and demonstrates exactly how I spend my shopping dollars. Every season I update my denim (cropped and flared, right now), get a new striped t-shirt (always black and white), and find trendy accessories consistant with my taste (like cat-eye sunglasses, a silk neckerchief, and a black faced watch). I've come to realize just how valuable reliabiliy is in one's wardrobe, and it's that principle that guides me when I'm sorting through my closet, or anyone else's.
