Brocade Bomber

Bomber: Helene Berman (Similar and very splurgy) // Blouse: C/O Dezzal // Jeans: Seven for all Mankind // Brogues: Madewell (Sold Out, Similar) // Quilted Crossbody: Rebecca Minkoff // Sunglasses: Vintage (Similar)

This brocade bomber is a survivor. It's something I found years ago at a Nordstrom Rack in a heavily marked down clearance section. I'd never heard of the designer (Helene Berman) and couldn't understand how it should be worn. It felt too old, too flashy, maybe a little too fabulous, but I bought it anyway because it spoke to me. Something told me; this jacket is special. And even though I rarely wear it, it's lived through countless closet edits because it's too interesting. Lucky, I am, that bombers are kind of a big deal right now!

Though I'm an 'addict' for new clothing, it's twice as thrilling for me to re-air an old piece when the time is just right. With the current craze for bomber jackets, I figure that time is NOW! To take some of the glitz out of it for daytime I paired it with masculine oxfords and a stiff button down shirt. I love how tHe subtle striping on the shirt gives a nod to 'mixed prints' without feeling too busy.

Damn, it feels good to make something old feel super fresh and 'of-the-moment'!
