DIY Jeweled Sweatshirt

Sweatshirt: Thrifted, Jeweled by me // Jeans: Thrifted // Ankle Boots: Zara // Beanie: Thrifted // Sunglasses: Ray-Ban Wayfarer

Once in a while I get a notion about creating a knock off of some fabulous piece of clothing I won't pay full price for. Take, for instance, the gorgeous jeweled sweatshirts that have populated the style scene for the entirety of 2014.. I don't know how many I've seen at J Crew, I know H&M has a few versions, and there are countless other options by designers high and low (many of which are out of my reach); so I thought I'd make my own.

I scoured my thrift store for a grey sweat shirt, and found this raglan sleeved gem. I waited until Michael's had a sale on glass beads and then bought a variety of shapes and sizes to play with. When I found the winning design, I used a tiny amount of hot glue to set the beads in place. After all the beads had been attached with glue, I secured them to the sweatshirt with needle and thread. Done and done! Technically it wasn't a hard project, but it did call for a lot of patience and attention to detail.

Perhaps I'll wear this sweatshirt for dressier occasions, but it felt perfect for a chilled out Sunday afternoon with my husband. We ran a few errands, picked up some pizza, and watched a movie from the comfort of our couch. Comfy and cozy is great, but even better when it's sparkly and special too.

Thanks for stopping by! I'd love to hear your thoughts!
