Last week I made the trip back to Colorado for Thanksgiving and although I was only in town for a couple of days I was able to get out for a walk in the open space near my parent's house. I'm lucky I went out when I did becasue my first sight of snow rolled in later that evening. I've forgotten how cold it can be in Colorado! When I'm just hanging around with friends and family I tend to dress very casually and a little ruggedly (as pictued). Denim, easy boots, and wool coats keep me warm and footloose so I can enjoy playing outside and getting a little dirty.

I'm wearing my reddish-rust toggle coat from J Crew. This color is everywhere in Colorado! Talk about matching your outfit to your surroundings! I'm a very loyal consumer of J Crew's outwear department. I don't mind paying a little more (but I always buy on sale) because I know their coats and jackets will last more than a couple of years. It's not just the quality construction and beautiful textiles I love; the styles are timeless and feel fresh each time I break them out.
